With a population hovering around 240,000 in its 68 square miles, Gilbert, Ariz., claims to be a dog-friendly, family-friendly, bike-friendly and overall generally friendly place to live, work, shop and play. The Gilbert Heritage District promotes the arts in many creative ways, and its water tower, innovative lighting displays and water features are beautiful. Parks, theatre and cool shopping venues and dining places round out the appeal.

Yet, just like in other places, windows need washing and water heaters grow old. We recently responded to a family in the very attractive Val Vista Lakes neighborhood. Turns out their water heater needed replacing, so we hauled out the old one, checked connections and piping, brought in a new one and the tools and gear to set it in place. Once connected, the whole family relaxed, and water flowed again - cold or hot or lukewarm, as desired.
